Why are you participating in the Lit From The Black! 2024 fellowship

I am deeply interested in participating in the Lit From the Black! (LTFB) fellowship, as it aligns perfectly with my passion for the arts and my experience in various creative and technical roles. I crave an opportunity to delve into the intricacies of stage lighting, sound, and visual design under the mentorship of esteemed professionals. As someone who has worked as both a Production Assistant and a Script Supervisor/Production Designer in the film industry, I have developed a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of the creative and technical aspects of production.

With experience in event coordination, moderation, curation, and community engagement, I carry invaluable skills in organizational leadership and effective communication. I have curated impactful exhibitions and moderated discussions on intersectional issues, demonstrating commitment to amplifying marginalized voices and fostering dialogue within diverse communities.

By participating, I aim to further enhance my technical skills in design and production while contributing to the representation and empowerment of folks of the African Diaspora within the arts and culture sector. I am excited about the prospect of learning from and collaborating with fellow participants to create meaningful and innovative productions that reflect our other worldly experiences and perspectives.

“I AM SO GRATEFUL THIS EXISTS!!- Viva Allen.
