To Be Born is to Belong. BAMBDFEST, Oakland

Afro Urban Society x BAMBDFEST International 2025 Biennial
To Be Born is to Belong

Join us for a community gathering to honor the life cycle, belonging and community connection with Dance, Music, & Play.

‘To Be Born is to Belong’ is part of Oruche’s ‘Obi gbawara’m’ project documenting practices around death in Igbo culture, and the African diaspora. ‘To Be Born is to Belong’ was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and the Mellon Foundation.
