Egwu Onwu (Condolence Songs)-A Community Gathering in Remembrance

  • Fruitvale (RSVP for address) Oakland (map)

A community gathering in remembrance

Centering Igbo & African-diasporic cultures, join us for a gathering in song, stories, and silence as we hold space for each other in commemoration of our dead, for our ancestors. We will have a community altar, ceremony & shared food.

This installation is a part of part of Oruche’s Obi gbawara’m//My Heart Shattered or What happens after I die? (OGB) researching and documenting traditions of death and grief in Igbo culture, and the African diaspora.
