Danni Blackman: Bay Area-Based Abstract Artist

BIO

I am an organizer and abstract artist with a multitude of mediums including painting with acrylics, bass guitar, singing, poetry, collaging, drawing, and clowning. I have a passion for bringing people together through common interests like art projects, political campaigns etc. I strongly believe in the power of community and our ability to keep hope alive when we come together. Production work and stage design has been a new calling ever since I organized musical entertainment at political ed rally for student debt cancellation in 2021. I love being behind the scenes, wearing many hats, to help build special moments people will hold in their hearts for a long time.

Why are you participating in the Lit From The Black! 2024 fellowship

Stage lighting is one of the first things that draws me in at any event I attend. It is one of key components for setting the mood of an occasion and has the power to really emphasize the expression of a performer. I am fascinated with how versatile light design is with how many different types of visuals, even from everyday life, can be turned into a show. I would love to learn how to be a part of that type of magic.
