Afro Culture Kids Camp is a community-based outdoor Pan-African arts & culture camp for kids ages 5-16 of African descent.
Oakland, California. We are looking for a few amazing folks to join our 2024 camp family.

July 17 2024 - August 28 2024 | Session 1: July 29-Aug 9 & Session 2: Aug 12 - 23

ACK Camp a community-based outdoor Pan-African arts & culture camp catered to kids ages 5-16 of African descent. ACK Camp is its own tiny world centering African cultural practices and activities including languages, nutritious food, music, dance, art & crafts, storytelling, play, nature/garden exploration, relationships, ideas, leisure, and working together. We practice cultural pride, artistic exploration, community building, togetherness, and respect, and joyful expressions. Camp is busy and interactive; it follows an intentional daily rhythm and has a few basic overarching rules and traditions, as well as holding values of responsive spontaneity and collaborative judgment calls with other team members and youth participants. Participants are diverse culturally, developmentally, and temperamentally; this job requires responding to them all appropriately, kindly and holistically.

In 2024 We are especially looking for folks versed in Igbo, Yoruba, Shona, Zulu, Swahili, Afro-Caribbean traditions who have native proficiency and experience in the Language, Indigenous cooking, and arts and craft practices of the relevant cultures.

COMPENSATION: $3,600-$5200 [~200-260 hrs]
