When Nollywood Had One Lighting Setting

by Kanukai Chigamba

Did you know that Nollywood is the second-largest film industry in the world with over 2,500 movies being released each year? Guess who is the first?

Even, as a non-Nigerian, my childhood was full of Nollywood movies. I even thought I could speak pidgin at some point. Some movies have given us golden moments.

I look back at those movies and wonder how the production was successful without a lot of resources. The Golden moments as in wholesome moments that are now our adult core memories and that warm white lighting that always blended the cast with their clothes, background, and everything else in the scene.

Here are some of my favorite moments that I now look back at & wonder what that scene would have been like if the warm white lighting was not too strong.
