AFRO QUARANTINE FEST- SUBMIT
We need Afrocentric solutions for Covid-19…We need a comprehensive Afrocentric response -Seun Kuti @bigbirdkuti
A Virtual Pan-African Arts & Culture Festival because #covid19 aka #coronavirus
To create is as intrinsic to being human as breathing.
Beginning Friday April 3, 2020 Afro Quarantine Fest will feature virtual performances, dance workshops, live art-making sessions and more from Artists of African descent all over the world.
Artists are essential to our world. They are in the sights we see. The scents we smell. The soundtracks that transport us. Yet the need for social distancing due to the pandemic covid19 has eliminated many of the ways we are nourished by art & culture. Afro Quarantine Fest will give us the rare chance to showcase, give witness, and celebrate the many contributions of artists of African descent to the tick, tick tock of global culture.
Many artists have had their livelihoods come to a complete stop, bringing a sense of financial and spiritual loss that goes beyond words. By joining our movement, by coming together on a multifaceted platform of connection and exchange with the global community, we will return life to the power of the people as we create a virtual space for performances, interactive activities, creative space, and communal social outlets.
We are holding the world up through this time of turmoil. We are keeping the world moving.
